Norms for Organization Jobs

Paper Moon offers childcare for organizing meetings to ensure that parents can participate without having to arrange their own childcare. If your organization is interested in Paper Moon providing childcare for a meeting, check out our norms below!

WAGES FOR CAREGIVERS:

FOR GROUPS WITH A LOW BUDGET (OR NO BUDGET), we recommend…
$20-25/hour, per caregiver
FOR ORGANIZATIONS WITH A BUDGET, we recommend…
$30-40/hour, per caregiver

Paying at a higher wage helps us fund care for families and organizations on the lower end of our sliding scale.

CAREGIVER/CHILD RATIO:

We schedule one caregiver for every 5 children signed up to be at the meeting (1 caregiver : 5 children ratio). We need organizations provide an estimate of childcare attendance at least 2 weeks in advance to allow us to schedule the shifts for our caregivers.

SPACE & ACTIVITIES:

Paper Moon does not have our own physical space, rather we coordinate caregivers to come to you. It works best for the organization (you!) to provide a separate, nearby space for the children to be during the meeting. (E.g. Some orgs use a different room in the office hosting the meeting. Some orgs reserve an extra room in the library where they are meeting).
Please let us know two weeks in advance if you are able to provide toys, activities and/or snacks or if we need to bring our own (or supplement). We are not able to provide food from Paper Moon.

AGE RANGE:

Paper Moon cannot provide group childcare for children under 18 months of age or for children who are not potty trained (cannot go to the bathroom independently). Individual bathroom needs prevent us from being present in the childcare space to facilitate group care adequately. Thank you for understanding.

SCHEDULING AND CANCELLATION:

If you would like us to do childcare for a meeting, please reach out with information about the meeting details (meeting time, location, what wage the org can pay, head count of potty-trained children, and activity needs) at least two weeks in advance. We will confirm scheduled PMCC members for the meeting within 7 days.
If you need to cancel, we understand! Our cancellation policy ensures we can be flexible to meet the needs of organizations while ensuring reliable work for our members. Cancellations that occur 48 hours before the scheduled job are to pay PMCC 50% of wages that were anticipated by our member(s). Cancellations that occur before then are accommodated with no charge as a courtesy, but if we have communicated that shifts are confirmed, we do appreciate a partial payment if possible.
